A Genuine Christian

Society’s (manipulated) way of seeing things is the essence of this blog site. The bringing about of changes in the way any society thinks on any given matter is of not much thought or concern for most people. What about you? Are you your own person or are you influenced into having opinions, and after thinking about it, you begin to realize that you don’t remember the thought process that provided you these opinions.

Conveniences on so many levels of our lives have caused us to rely on someone else’s thinking more than we should. Television news will tell you what you want to hear – if you don’t like Fox News then you can go to CNN. Your church will give you what you want – just pick your favorite denomination.

Politics, religion, you name it, you can have it, any way you want it; but the real truth in any area of discussion is not being sought after by the public at large. Everyone is more interested in trying to reinforce their current views rather that going after the gold – the truth.

Take your church, for instance. The reason you attend is because they see things according to your way of understanding more than most other places you’ve been. And you sure enough ain’t going to that other denomination because they have their doctrine all wrong, right? Lots of mutual feelings floating around – antagonistic feelings. So, why can’t we all just get along and be at peace with one another? That statment should raise a red flag.

The one with the doctrine, the one that’ll get red around the collar is the one with the truth? Really? You must know that the other denominations of people believe they are the ones with the truth, too.

A Christian believes as he has been informed by his pastor, most of the time. What ever denomination or belief system that was introduced first will be the understanding held by the recipient, most of the time. Sometimes some people change by adding to their understanding and sometimes it goes the other way. At any rate, whether a “Christian” is a Pentecostal, Calvinist, Jehovah’s Witness, Trinitatian, Apostolic, Universalist, whatever – that is the label that is proudly worn. In your case is it your cause, your love and what you’ll stand for … and maybe die for? Then that’s where you’ll be buried so you better hope that you’re the one that has deligently searched for truth and found it.

I heard it said just the other day (by a somewhat conservative protestant member) that it doesn’t matter which denomination you belong to – Baptist, Methodist, Church of God or Buddhist. Just as long as you believe in a Supreme Being, that is all that mattered (Is that a familiar teaching to you? It is a teaching that is taught to untold millions around the world.) I replied by quoting John 14:6 – there is not but one way. People believe all kinds of untruth, simply because of false teachings – false propaganda.

People that truly have their eyes upon Jesus can get along with one another. All the rest will continue in their make-believe world that they have provided for themselves, until they see the Light. Then there is a decision to be made.

Whether or not you call yourself a Christian, it’s time to choose whom you will serve – truly – if you haven’t already.

One Response to A Genuine Christian

  1. Sandra Shepherd says:

    So true.
In 1st Corinthians chapter 1 verse 11: For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chlo’e, that there are contention among you.
12: Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of A-pol’los; and I of Ce-phas; and I of Christ.
13: Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or or were we baptized in the name of Paul?
According to these scriptures there is only one faith, one God, one church.
It is us that have gotten off track!
    Keep up the good work!
